Pentagon PR release attendence at an all-time high

I noticed while watching Fox News' broadcast of a Pentagon public relations release that there were about 12 reporters in the room. I find it odd, usually when the Pentagon has something to say about the war in Iraq, the news outlets are there in force, shouting out leading questions, acting like 9th graders, etc. However, this time, the topic is one to make the agenda-driven MSM uncomfortable - it is a press release where a U.S. Army Major who is a specialist in ammunition management is telling the press about his involvement in the destruction of 200 tons of ammunition and explosives from the Al Qaqaa weapons storage facility. Apparently, the 200 tons are all that was there; visual survailence of the facility revealed photos of Saddam's people taking trucks into the facility days before and removing something.

The MSM is staying away from this story with the same fervor that they leapt on the initial Al Qaqaa/missing weapons issue. I guess that since it has done its damage to the Bush campaign effort, they are no longer under a burden to report the inconvenient truth that has now been revealed.
