The Existence of Rednecks Explained

I am sure that you have heard Jeff Foxworthy's interesting take on the qualities of Rural Americans. Finally, there's scientific proof that explains the existence of Redneck America, straight from the University of Edinburgh, the University of Bath and the University of Sussex. This article in the TimesOnline explains how a reduction in the gene pool of the creatures that evolved into humans some 4 million years ago created a population of defective men:

"The results (of the study they performed), which are published today in the journal Public Library of Science Biology, suggest that the ancestors of humans and chimpanzees passed through an evolutionary bottleneck during which as few as 10,000 individuals survived " And earlier:

"THE human race owes its susceptibility to many diseases to widespread inbreeding early in our evolutionary history, new research has suggested."

This confirms what we've all come to know and love about our species, that diversity in breeding prevents defects - possibly rednecks, too.
