This is The Libercontrarian:

Gun owner. Married. Ex-Navy.

A Christian, but not too sinless. Foul-mouthed, sarcastic, a little self-righteous. Sometimes angry. Jocluar. A bit of a crusader. A great friend. A pretty decent American.

Unintended Consequences

Picked up, at the Aurora Public Library, at the urging of Jed at FreedomSight, Unintended Consequences - it is a fictional work that addresses the American gun culture, but incorporates tales of the influential real characters in the 20th Century drama of industrialized America who shaped the private ownership of guns, and what the responsibility of Free Men are when their society is threatened from within and without.

I am 1/3rd of the way through the book, and I shall issue a report here on this blog when I have completed it. Many reviewers of the book describe it as a life-changing read - Enemies Foreign and Domestic was like that for me. Matthew Bracken wrote one of the most powerful tales I've ever read - disturbing and frightening... and totally believable - at least the part about the ATF plot to ratchet up the machine to marginalize gun owners.

Thought-provoking for sure, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call UC “life changing”. It is something every gun owner should read, and it’s another one of those books with something to piss off just about everyone (which, as Martha would say, is a good thing).

BTW, John Ross has kept a sort of blog for a while now, which is occasionally interesting.

Dammit! You would think I would have mastered basic copy/pasting & linking by now. The above should have read:

Okay, I know I did it right that time. There's something screwy with motime's commenting. Try this one more time without any html:

Oh, Cutter, my Cutter! Thou hast lost thine eye for HTML!

Just joking there, Chief. I don't think Motime likes HTML in comments; probably some kind of kooky anti-spam device.
