Congressman Murtha - Read Some Kipling, Please

OK, so you're an Old Soldier. You fought in the Wasted War, for a nation that made the judgement that a halfway-fight was the solution to the threat of Communism. You're evidently bitter about it, I as we can see from your obtuse suggestion that the we should mimic the French Surrender Monkeys and abdicate the fight at once.

What you are suggesting is that we now pay the Dane his geld of victory against The Great Satan (the Dane being Islamofascism) in order to somehow "unconvince" him to quit attacking our soldiers, in the hopes that Allah's Mercy will be extended to the next set of terrified commuters on the targeted airliners, subway trains, or cruise ships that the Dane has in his blood-drenched (and possibly radioactive) sights. That worked for about nine minutes with both the Spanish and the French. I doubt it would last half as long were the target Americans.

You need to read up a bit on the Dane, and what he has in store for us, penned by a very prescient man named Rudyard Kipling - an Old Soldier himself, and one who would never be possesed by your particularly indefensible need to use this war to attack his home nation.

Danegeld

"It is always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
  To call upon a neighbour and to say: --
"We invaded you last night--we are quite prepared to fight,
  Unless you pay us cash to go away."

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
  And the people who ask it explain
That you've only to pay 'em the Dane-geld
  And then  you'll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
  To puff and look important and to say: --
"Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
  We will therefore pay you cash to go away."

And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
  But we've  proved it again and  again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
  You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
  For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
  You will find it better policy to say: --

"We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
  No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
  And the nation that pays it is lost!"

Please re-read that last paragraph, Congressman Murtha. It should strike a chord with you, even though you've become a Demokratic Party apparatchik - remember that over 3 million Cambodians died when the people from your generation decided that it was cheaper to pay the Danegeld of Soviet Communism than to face it down. That the Communists died of their own internal cancer some 15 years later is unimportant - they would have vaporized you and me and 250 million other Americans if they thought they could get away with it, and by my recollection, they were actively planning just such a little party for our soft-headed, greed-focused nation when a man named Reagan rose to power and woke us all up about the true cost of the Danegeld.

The Murtha family motto? Perhaps it's, "When the going gets tough, the tough become used as political fodder by The Left."
